The first 3 days The first 48-72 hours are the most critical; our belief is to hold chicks for their most crucial times to ensure they receive their required vitamins and are healthy before leaving to their new homes. We deal with any dead-loss so that you don’t have to! All of our chicks are sold straight run, meaning unsexed. Vent sexing is the most accurate way to sex a chick; however research has shown, vent sexing can cause health problems such as vent prolapse. This is something we believe no bird should have to suffer.
Bringing your birds home We know you are so excited to get your new birds home! Please note that most times, chick loss is caused by incorrect temperatures, we cannot stress enough how important correct temperature is. Remember a cold chick is a dead chick!
Heat Lamps The heat lamp must be 18" from the floor to make the birds comfortable, Raise the heat lamp 6" a week in order to maintain the same comfortable position. This is just a guideline; each scenario will require your own discretion.
Feed We recommend medicated poultry starter, it contains Amprolium for the prevention of Coccidiosis. Amprolium is used to prevent coccidiosis not treat it.There are other choices of feed and is all personal preference but this is what we use and recommend. Starter
